Jahan Ramazani is University Professor and Edgar F. Shannon Professor of English at the University of Virginia. His books include Poetry in a Global Age; A Transnational Poetics, winner of the Harry Levin Prize; and Poetry of Mourning: The Modern Elegy from Hardy to Heaney. He is editor of The Cambridge Companion to Postcolonial Poetry; coeditor of The Norton Anthology of Modern and Contemporary Poetry and The Norton Anthology of English Literature; and associate editor of The Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics. He is an elected member of the American Philosophical Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
