Michael North is Professor Emeritus of English at the University of California, Los Angeles. His publications include The Waste Land: A Norton Critical Edition, What Is the Present?, Novelty: A History of the New, Machine-Age Comedy, Camera Works, Reading 1922: A Return to the Scene of the Modern, The Dialect of Modernism, and other books, as well as articles in Critical Inquiry, New Literary History, Modernism/Modernity, PMLA, and other journals. Recent works include contributions to The New Modernist Studies, The New Modernist Studies Reader, and the Cambridge History of Modernism.
